That's not being mean, m'dear, that's being honest. My mother and friends have always used the term, "You need to learn how to" whenever I stuff something up badly. -Always-. I used to think it was mean too, until I realised they were doing it for my own good. It took a year or two for that to happen. I was 12 when it bothered me. By the time I was 14 I could take my mother's,. "It's shit. Do it again" with a shrug (and then I'd definitely do it again). She still does it too (I'm 18), with my artwork only (except the more explicit stuff; I don't have enough courage to show or even mention that to her or anyone in RL).

If it's a suggestion (one that I think could or couldn't be turned into an action and it wouldn't really matter), I'll definitely use "Maybe you should try" or "Perhaps it'd be better if". The 'maybe' and 'perhaps' make it a choice, 'You need' makes it a must. That's why I used it. This is why I explained my reviewing/critiquing in my profile, because I really don't mean anything bad about anything I say even if it sounds harsh.

XD Most of my fics are written out of nowhere too, unless it's a chapter fic. My newest one, "Remember to Forget' sort of popped into my head one afternoon whilst I'd been working on another story. It didn't turn out like I'd 1st imagined it either. ==;

How about this? In order to be fair, go critique some of my work. Tell me everything you dislike about it and why. Even if it's a little thing like, "Sesshomaru doesn't talk so formally all the time", I'll be grateful. Be absolutely ruthless; I won't mind.
